Privacy notice
Last updated: 5 October 2026
Fuel Price Calculator is an independent UK website. For privacy requests or enquiries, email [email protected].
What this notice covers
This notice explains how personal information is handled when you visit fuelpricecalculator.co.uk, use its location features or contact us. The calculator is free to use and does not require an account.
Information used by the calculator
When you enter mileage, fuel economy, fuel price and other cost details, calculations run in your browser. We do not send those numeric inputs to a database or save a journey history. Values held in the page are cleared when it is reloaded or closed.
If you request a driving route or nearby stations, the location text or postcode you enter is sent to our Cloudflare-hosted service. Full UK postcodes are checked with Postcodes.io. Place-name searches use Postcodes.io and Photon, which uses OpenStreetMap data. If a route destination cannot be resolved by those services, Nominatim may be used as a fallback. Route endpoint coordinates are sent to public OSRM routing services. For nearby fuel prices, the postcode, selected fuel type and search radius are sent to our Cloudflare-hosted service, which requests current price data from Fuel Near You. Fuel Near You serves price data derived from the UK Government Fuel Finder scheme. Route, place and nearby-price lookups are therefore made through our Cloudflare-hosted service rather than directly from your browser to those providers. These external services may process request metadata and retain operational logs under their own policies.
Please use a town, public destination or postcode instead of entering a person's name, confidential information or a full home address. A postcode can still be personal information in context. External map links are opened only when you click them; the map provider then processes your visit under its own policy.
Website delivery and security
Cloudflare processes technical information to deliver and protect the website. This may include IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, browser information and security signals. We do not enable visitor analytics, advertising trackers, fingerprinting or session recordings in this version.
When you contact us
We receive the details you include in your email, such as your name, email address and message. We use them to answer your request, investigate a reported issue and handle follow-up correspondence. The email-routing and mailbox providers used to deliver the message may process correspondence and delivery metadata. Do not send payment-card details or sensitive information that is not needed for your enquiry.
Purposes and lawful bases
- Delivering requested location results: legitimate interests in providing the feature you choose to use.
- Operating and securing the site: legitimate interests in a reliable service and preventing misuse.
- Answering enquiries: legitimate interests in responding to people who contact us.
- Keeping information required by law or responding to lawful requests: compliance with the relevant legal obligation.
You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will consider your circumstances and the applicable legal rules.
Providers and sharing
Providers relevant to this build include Cloudflare (hosting, security and, if configured, email routing), Postcodes.io (postcode lookup), komoot/Photon (place lookup), OpenStreetMap Nominatim (fallback place lookup), public OSRM services (driving routes), and Fuel Near You (nearby Fuel Finder prices). The government DESNZ dataset supplies national average fuel prices; no visitor information is needed to retrieve that dataset. We do not sell personal information.
We may disclose information to professional advisers, where legally required, or when necessary to establish or defend legal rights. Provider information is available at Cloudflare, Postcodes.io, komoot, OSRM, Fuel Near You and OpenStreetMap.
International processing
Some service providers operate globally and may process information outside the UK. Where a restricted international transfer is our responsibility, an applicable transfer mechanism must be used, such as an adequacy regulation or appropriate contractual safeguards. Clicking an external website link is subject to that website's own practices.
Retention
We do not retain the numeric calculator inputs or deliberately store route or postcode requests in an application database. Request bodies exist while the request is processed. Infrastructure and external service providers may retain operational or security logs under their own schedules and settings.
We keep correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to answer an enquiry, handle follow-up questions, resolve an issue, meet a legal obligation or deal with a dispute.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law can give you rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Where consent is used, you may withdraw it. Some rights have legal conditions or exceptions. We do not make decisions about individuals with legal or similarly significant effects using solely automated processing.
Email [email protected] to exercise a right. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm identity. We aim to respond within the applicable statutory period, normally one month. You may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Cookies, advertising and changes
See our cookie notice. No Google AdSense, Google Analytics or other advertising or analytics service is active in this build. We will update our notices and implement appropriate consent controls before introducing these features. This notice may change when the service or its providers change; the revision date appears above.
