How this calculator works
We first determine usable capacity, then calculate the kWh available between your current charge and the reserve you want to retain. That energy is converted into miles using kWh per 100 miles; the conditions adjustment accounts for a chosen reduction from ideal usage.
Unlike a dashboard prediction, this tool makes each assumption visible. A 10% reserve is not the same as a guaranteed safety buffer; temperature, speed, tyres, terrain and battery condition affect actual range.
Common questions
Is this the same as WLTP range?
No. WLTP is a standardised comparison cycle; this estimate uses your chosen energy consumption, charge levels and conditions.
Why keep a reserve?
A reserve allows for diversions or unexpected consumption. Decide on a buffer appropriate for your journey and charging availability.
