How this calculator works

We calculate battery energy to be replenished, adjust it for the charging efficiency you entered and divide by the lower of the charger rating and the vehicle acceptance limit. This assumes constant power throughout the session.

A 60 kWh usable battery going from 20% to 80% requires 36 kWh into the battery. With 90% efficiency and 7.4 kW effective power, the estimate is about 5 hours 24 minutes.

Reference: Official guidance / methodology. External rates can change.

Common questions

Why might rapid charging take longer?

Battery temperature, state of charge and vehicle charging curves restrict power. The advertised peak kW is rarely sustained throughout an entire rapid charge.

Can I calculate 10% to 80%?

Yes. Enter 10 as the starting charge and 80 as the target charge. Check your specific vehicle for a more realistic DC charging curve.
